History & Vision

History

JOMA Arts & Consulting, LLC was founded in 1998 by John L. Moore, III and Mary (Imani) Drayton-Hill, as the JOMA Arts Group in Washington D.C. JOMA was originally conceived as an independent, commercial, theatrical producing company, focused on commercial productions with an African-American theme.

By spring 2000 JOMA evolved into a partnership with three distinct business lines: Management Consulting, Arts Presentations and Theatrical Productions, Facility and Arts Center development or creation.

In 2002, after serving two years as the Executive Director of the Afro-American Cultural Center in Charlotte, NC, John Moore left that position to focus his attention on the growth and development of JOMA, with the aim of better serving the arts community, locally, regionally, and nationally. His national work includes serving as Vice Chair on the board of The Association of American Cultures. Since 2002 JOMA has grown, and achieved a national profile of successful consulting.
